Simon, oh Simon. Carrier of the cross.
On that day, you were forced to come.
Picked out of the crowd, pushed into the road.
But how did you go? Were you eager to serve your Lord?
When Christ's blood covered your
Hands and Brow,
Were you filled with sorrow for your
Savior?
Or was your heart filled with disdain?
Did your eyes lock with eyes of life-
Life desperately fighting dark death?
Your sons believed in this Jesus, this much we know.
But were you proud to be an example
To them?
Simon, oh Simon. Did you weep
For Him or did you mock Him spitefully?
No matter your quest, did you know?
Did you know you would be an
Example for the coming ages?
A carrier of the blood soaked cross,
Simon, oh Simon.
Wrote this today in class about Simon the man who carried the cross for Christ. I want to know if he knew he could be an example of picking up our cross and following Him... Just a thought.
